Kids are both a delight and a challenge.
Sometimes caretakers are unable to provide the support our kids need to thrive. An objective third party, trained in ways to reestablish trust and open rapport between you and your children, is a helpful adjunct to creating more harmonious families.
Before working with your kids, we meet three or four times so I can understand what behaviors you’re seeing at home. It is important we establish a clear understanding of what behaviors you want changed, and how you will know when counseling is making a change.
We also discuss ways to destigmatize counseling for the kids. If they come in thinking “they’re broken” therapy can take much longer. During our initial session, we will discuss ways to approach your child about starting therapy, with the goal of reducing potential resistance.
